30 talented young people, musicians and visual artists, have become scholars of the Young Talents 2021 national program

The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation announces the debut of the 2021 edition of the Young Talents program and the names of the 30 new scholars in the music and visual arts categories. These are young artists studying at vocational educational institutions in the country who come from low-income families. The Young Talents program will provide them with support to pursue and develop an artistic career through scholarships, intergenerational mentoring sessions, and masterclasses, as well as by promoting their artistic work.

Since 2008, The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation has been creating equal opportunities for talented young Romanians, offering comprehensive support that contributes to the development and valorization of their talent. The Young Talents scholarships are awarded to young people aged between 14 and 24 who study at music and arts high schools and universities in Romania, and whose financial situation limits them in fulfilling their true potential and artistic expression.

The application process took place between November and December 2020, during which 156 young people expressed their intention to become scholars. The selection process consisted of an analysis of the submitted files, selection of candidates by a specialized jury, online interviews, and social inquiries. The evaluation of portfolios by a specialized jury, composed of personalities from the artistic and academic fields, represented the decisive stage, following which the best 30 candidates were selected based on their demonstrated talent and artistic potential. Among the young people admitted to the program are 4 alumni scholars. These are former scholars who will continue their training while also serving as mentors for the new scholars by sharing their own experiences gained within the program.

The list of the 15 young musicians and 15 visual artists who became scholars of the Young Talents 2021 program can be consulted here.

The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation thanks the jury members for their involvement and support:

Every year, Romania loses dozens of talented young people who, due to a lack of material resources, cannot capitalize on their talent and do not benefit from real chances of affirmation. The Young Talents program contributes to their artistic development through financial support, intergenerational mentoring sessions, and promotional activities, including online platforms. For Young Talents scholars, the program represents an essential step in their evolution—an opportunity for self-discovery and artistic exploration, as well as the possibility to connect with nationally and internationally recognized figures of culture who can guide their careers.

About the Young Talents Program

The national Young Talents program debuted in 2008 with the aim of supporting and promoting talented young artists who come from modest families and need financial support to reach their true potential and express their talent. What differentiates the Young Talents program from other scholarship projects is its holistic approach, centered on the development and affirmation of these emerging artists, not just on financial aid. In addition to scholarships, young people receive guidance from valuable mentors, training through masterclasses, and promotion opportunities. During its 13 years of activity, this program has awarded 350 study scholarships, organized 450 recitals, concerts, and exhibitions, provided 140 national and international masterclasses, and seen its scholars win 175 awards at national and international competitions. Young Talents has been recognized as the best Art and Culture program in Romania, winning at the Civil Society Gala in 2013 and 2015, and receiving 2nd place in the same category in 2019.
