On Monday, May 15, 2023, at 6:00 PM, Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown and President of The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation, hosted, in the garden of Elisabeta Palace, the Evening dedicated to The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation, bringing together partners and supporters of its projects, as well as leaders contributing to a better Romania. On this occasion, the Royal Foundation launched its 2022 Activity Report..

The Royal Foundation Evening represents a moment of recognition and appreciation for distinguished representatives of companies involved in the long-term development of a sustainable community in Romania, as well as for sponsors and partners who have supported and promoted the Foundation’s projects.

In Her opening message, Her Majesty Margareta expressed her gratitude to the companies for their joint efforts and to all those who have shown generosity and solidarity.

“I am deeply grateful for your presence and for the generosity, friendship, and warmth you bring here. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do for the Foundation and for its beneficiaries: children, elderly people, and people who are less fortunate than we are in life,” said Her Majesty Margareta.

At the same time, the event was an opportunity to share the results achieved through the Royal Foundation’s activities and the long-term social impact of both scalable and innovative projects: increased impact, reaching a significant number of beneficiaries, innovation, and the implementation and promotion of the intergenerational concept. Through this approach, the Foundation aims to inspire Romania so that the intergenerational model may be adopted throughout society, alongside other activities carried out in support of elderly people, children, and young people. The Royal Foundation has innovated and expanded the intergenerational method and volunteering among elderly people, similar to a social franchise model.

“The social franchise we have created, centered on the intergenerational approach, has enabled us to work with more than 40 nongovernmental organizations across the country that run after-school social centers for children from disadvantaged families, helping them transform their lives. The simple idea of solidarity between generations fuels this innovation and allows the Royal Foundation to identify community leaders and support them in developing stronger, more sustainable communities. Together, we are making Romania a better country!” said Mugurel Mărgărit, Executive Director of the Royal Foundation.

Thanks to sponsorships and the support of media partners, last year the Royal Foundation worked with 64 nongovernmental organizations nationwide and supported nearly 10,000 children, elderly people, young people, and refugees, thus continuing its positive impact on community development. The Foundation’s investment in social projects and the development of vulnerable communities exceeded €1,200,000, according to the 2022 Annual Report launched on this occasion.

In his message, Dacian Moldovan, President of the Buckner Foundation in Târnăveni — a partner of the national Generations program — stated: “The Generations project began at our Center in 2015, and for the first time we became aware of the valuable resource that elderly people in the community can represent through their involvement as volunteers in educational and vocational activities. The value brought by senior volunteers has been the promotion of identity and human dignity, through their way of being, their honest character, and the unconditional love they show to children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds. Without your support, we certainly could not have had an impact on the lives of so many children.”

Members of the Board of Directors, employees, and volunteers of the Foundation were also present at the annual gathering.

The evening concluded with a classical music recital performed by twelve scholarship recipients of the Young Talents program and a cocktail reception in the distinguished garden of Elisabeta Palace.
