Scholars of the Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation present their first visual arts exhibition and a recital to the public at Elite Art Gallery

Between March 29 and April 2, the Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation, together with Elite Art Gallery, is organizing the exhibition Identities, a debut event for the young visual artists and musicians selected as scholars of the national Tinere Talente (Young Talents) program, 2021 edition.

The Identities event is part of a series of initiatives aimed at affirming and promoting the 30 young artists at the beginning of their careers, supported in their artistic development throughout 2021 by the Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation.

Fifteen visual artist scholars will exhibit works in painting, graphics, photography, textile arts, and fashion design, conveying their talent and artistic message to art and beauty lovers. The event has an intergenerational character, as the young artists’ exhibition is complemented by works created by visual artist Ileana Dana Marinescu, mentor within the Young Talents program.

Ileana Dana Marinescu is a member of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania, has an extensive exhibition activity in galleries in Romania and abroad, and her works are held in private collections around the world.

The atmosphere of the event will be enriched by a classical music recital performed by three of the new Young Talents scholars: Eleonora Bordînc – cello, Mircea Dumitrescu – violin, and Ovidiu Pintilie – guitar. The recital will be streamed on the Young Talents program’s Facebook page.

The Identities exhibition will be open from March 29 to April 2, daily between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., at Elite Art Gallery, Piața Națiunilor Unite no. 3–5, Block B2, Ground Floor, Sector 4, Bucharest. The profiles of the exhibiting visual artists can be consulted here.

In January this year, the Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation organized a national selection addressed to young people aged 14 to 24 who study at vocational education institutions in Romania and come from low-income families. Following the evaluation carried out by the specialist jury, 30 young artists became scholars of the Young Talents program. Throughout 2021, they will benefit from comprehensive support consisting of scholarships dedicated to artistic development, intergenerational mentoring sessions and masterclasses, as well as promotion of their artistic work.

About the Young Talents Program
The national Young Talents program was launched in 2008 with the aim of supporting and promoting talented young artists from modest families who need financial support to reach their true potential and express their talent. What differentiates the Young Talents program from other scholarship projects is its holistic approach, focused on the development and affirmation of emerging artists, not only on financial support. In addition to scholarships, young people receive guidance from valuable mentors, training through masterclasses, and promotion opportunities. Over the 13 years of activity, 350 study scholarships have been awarded, 450 recitals, concerts, and exhibitions organized, 140 national and international masterclasses delivered, and 175 awards won at national and international competitions. Young Talents has been recognized as the best Art and Culture program in Romania, winning the Civil Society Gala award in 2013 and 2015 and second place in the same category in 2019.
