- Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia awarded the scholarship recipients for their artistic achievements in the fields of visual arts and classical music
25 November 2025 The Young Talents Gala, 2025 edition, an interdisciplinary performance presented by the scholarship recipients of The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation, took place last night at the “I. L. Caragiale” National Theatre in Bucharest (TNB), in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia. The 17th generation of young talents, 15 musicians and 15 visual artists, offered the audience a classical music recital and an extensive visual arts exhibition featuring works created during the scholarship year. The Young Talents Gala was hosted by Bogdan Chenciu, TV show moderator and producer, and was recorded by TVR Cultural,to be broadcast at a later date.
Sponsors, partners, donors, and supporters of the young artists had the opportunity to personally discover the artistic personality of each participant and to fully understand the value of their investment in the new generation of creators. In 2025, the Young Talents project – Kaufland Romania & Royal Foundation project received the GOLD distinction in the Art & Culture category at the Community Index – the most extensive evaluation of community investment and CSR projects in Romania.
“It is said that the recipe for success is simple: talent and hard work. The truth is that you also need resources. Many young people give up on their dream of an artistic career because they cannot afford it. For 16 years, we have supported the Young Talents program of The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation – one of the longest-lasting partnerships through which we contribute to a more equitable future for the country. At Kaufland, we believe that involvement makes the difference. And we are grateful to have partners alongside us who make positive change possible.” — Marco Hößl, CEO Kaufland Romania & Moldova
The young musicians performed emblematic pieces by G. Bizet, E. Grieg, A. Piazzolla, D. Shostakovich, J. B. Singelée, and B. Bartók – a musical program carefully and dedicatedly coordinated by Verona Maier, pianist, PhD university professor at the National University of Music Bucharest and Vice-Rector of the institution, mentor within the Young Talents project.
,,As never before, the gala stage brought together an especially unique and enthusiastic group, featuring a record number of wind instrumentalists – 12, along with three other colleagues of the same generation. The coordinates of this reunion at a moment of reflection are the energy and exuberance specific to the scholars’ age, the boldness and naturalness of expression, the attachment and involvement essential to success, and the passion that defines them and to which they have chosen to dedicate themselves with joy. The ,,translation into sound” of these traits was happily supported by the concert repertoire, in which geographical, historical, and stylistic spaces met, spanning continents, centuries, and highly diverse aesthetics. A journey through dance rhythms characteristic of spiritualities that enrich our lives through diversity and nourish our desire for knowledge and connection, defining our humanism.”— Prof. PhD Verona Maier
The concert was followed by a presentation of fashion design creations by three young scholarship recipients, and the Lilia Regalis dress was presented by Anca Ghinea, multidisciplinary creator and supporter of the Foundation.
During the event, Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia awarded the 30 scholarship recipients of the program Young Talents – 2025 edition – for artistic performance in the fields of visual arts and classical music.
Additionally, Mugurel Mărgărit, Executive Director of the Royal Foundation, presented diplomas to Ernst & Young Romania and Ferrero Romania, as well as to media partners Forbes Romania – Raluca Michailov and TVR Cultural – Valentina Băințan, who have been involved for several years in supporting the Young Talents program. It includes representative works from the individual projects of the scholarship recipients, created with materials purchased through the scholarship, as well as selections from joint projects: the exhibitions Life Journal and Passions and Interests of the members of the Royal Family, coordinated by mentor Assoc. Prof. PhD Ion Anghel. The techniques range from fashion translation, mezzotint, analogue photography, digital animation, and digital drawing, to mixed media, assemblage, and acrylics. About the national Young Talents program
Many talented children come from families whose financial means do not allow them to pursue their talent. As a result, Romania loses every year dozens of young talents who could otherwise become cultural ambassadors. Romania needs art! In response to this issue, the Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation created, in 2009, a national program to support, guide, and promote these talented young artists from low-income families who need financial support to reach their true potential and express their talent. Thus, through 470 scholarships, young people aged between 14 and 24, studying music or visual arts in high schools and universities in Romania, have been supported to overcome financial hardship and continue expressing their artistic value. EUR 2.2 million have been invested in Romania’s artistic future. The program Young Talents program is recognized as the Best Arts and Culture Program in Romania, being a four-time laureate of the Civil Society Gala.
