At Easter, over 650 elderly people receive gifts, support, and companionship through the programs of the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation
17 April 2025 – As Easter approaches, the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation is once again standing by lonely and vulnerable older persons, beneficiaries of its social programmes – The Elderly Fund, The Elderly Helpline and the Generations Centres – offering not only care packages, but also human presence, attentive listening and encouragement, made possible with the support of volunteers, donors and sponsors. The activities are taking place in the counties of Alba, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brașov, Galați, Maramureș, Mureș, Tulcea, Satu Mare, Vrancea, as well as in Bucharest.
It is time to open our hearts, to think of the elderly people who have been part of our personal journey and who now need our presence. Let us offer them a precious gift: a gesture of attention, a sign of appreciation, the chance for a dignified old age, messages of solidarity and hope!
400 elderly people receive practical, material, or emotional support through local projects
In the localities of Baia Mare, Mărășești, Nicorești, Reghin and Tulcea, 400 elderly people have recently benefited from material support and moments of social connection through the local initiatives of organisations funded by the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation through social services grants. Seniors received food and hygiene products delivered to their homes, while those eager to socialise took part in intergenerational creative workshops dedicated to the Easter celebration, sharing stories and traditions.
Volunteers have arrived at the homes of 100 elderly people in Bucharest
Elderly people in Bucharest facing severe financial hardship, constant beneficiaries of the Elderly Fund programme, were visited by volunteers of the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation – students and members of corporate teams – who support the cause of elderly people. Thus, 50 volunteers reached the homes of 100 elderly people struggling to make ends meet, bringing them gift packages and traditional Easter treats, offering words of encouragement and leaving behind a ray of light and hope.
120 elderly people volunteers, rewarded with Easter goods
The elderly people who embraced volunteering, offering time and affection to children in intergenerational centers in the counties of Alba, Bistrița Năsăud, Brașov, Mureș, Satu Mare, and Bucharest, were rewarded with seasonal goods, along with the baskets provided to the children with products from Hochland.
Social tickets for 30 elderly people in the country
30 elderly people across the country, living in precarious conditions, received social vouchers worth 200 RON, enabling them to prepare something for their Easter table.
Charity event centered around the theatre play “The Father” and a classical music recital for the elderly residents of the “St. Anne” Residential Care Centre
The Bulandra Theatre hosted a special performance of the play “The Father,” starring maestro Victor Rebengiuc in the leading role, and the funds raised from ticket sales, purchased in less than 24 hours from the moment they went on sale, will be directed towards support projects dedicated to elderly people. The charity performance was supported by Hochland Romania, which reaffirms its commitment to the Royal Foundation’s intergenerational projects.
Scholarship recipients of the Young Talents program brought the emotion of Palm Sunday through a special recital dedicated to the elderly residents of the “St. Ana” Residential Care and Assistance Centre for Elderly People, run by the DGASPC District 3.
40 elderly people from Bucharest invited to a socialization meal and intergenerational creative workshops
At a festive gathering filled with holiday flavours and life stories, 30 elderly people who have found comfort from loneliness through the Elderly Helpline were invited to step out of their daily routine and feel part of a caring community. The suspended meals were donated by customers of the City Grill restaurant network through the Out for Food app, bringing holiday joy to elderly people living alone. Other elderly beneficiaries of the same program, as well as of the Elderly Fund, together with children and elderly volunteers from the Generations Club Bucharest, created Easter decorations and relived the joy of Easter as in their childhood.
