DOORS – the project that opens doors for 20 small and medium-sized NGOs
The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation is launching the „DOORS – Organizational Development of NGOs in Romania for Sustainability”, a project implemented in partnership with Nedland Kultur, with financial support from the Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014–2021. The aim of this project is to support the development and sustainability of 20 NGOs active in the social, education, health, civic, and environmental fields in underserved geographical areas, with limited human and financial resources.
Small and medium-sized NGOs in Romania are invited to apply for the project “DOORS – Organizational Development of NGOs in Romania for Sustainability,” through which, over a period of 20 months, 20 NGOs from across the country will receive support to build their organizational capacity through a comprehensive program including: training sessions, coaching, strategy development, new websites, social media pages, and exchanges of experience.
Eligible NGOs must cumulatively meet the following criteria:
– be legally established and have been active for at least one year;
– operate in one of the following fields: social, education, health, civic, environmental, etc.;
– operate in underserved areas, either with a limited presence of civil society or with situations of community deprivation in one or more of the following aspects: low levels of human capital (education, health, demographic behavior), low employment rates, poor housing conditions, insufficiently developed services for certain vulnerable groups.
Priority will be given to organizations with fewer than 10 employees and a 2021 budget of less than €200,000.
The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation will offer beneficiary organizations the opportunity to be part of a complex organizational transformation process, aiming to strengthen their capacity to develop projects, attract volunteers, and manage their organizations. Field specialists with over 10 years of practical experience will work alongside organizational staff in a genuine partnership to support them and the communities they serve. Participation in this project can represent a major step for each NGO toward organizational development and achieving sustainability.
